STRATEGIC PLAN SUMMATION
Until 2008, the Livingston County Historical Society (LCHS) and Museum was an all-volunteer organization with respect to all operations of the Society, Museum, and site. For the first time in the longstanding history of the Society, the LCHS Board of Council hired a part-time Museum Administrator in the fall of 2008. Together, the Board and Administrator developed a five-year strategic plan in an effort to define and prioritize the needs of the Society and the Museum. The plan identifies goals, strategies and tasks in the categories of: Human Resources, Financial Planning, Collections/ Exhibits, Building/Site, Membership/ Audience, Communication, and Program.
Sally Treanor served as the strategic planning consultant and, with her guidance, the board and administration began assessing strengths, weaknesses, threats and opportunities. Concurrently, the Heritage Preservation Conservation Assessment Program (CAP) was completed. Reports prepared by CAP grant consultants Barbara Moore, collections conservator, and Clinton Brown, historic preservation architect, provided additional recommendations for a focused plan of action. The strategic plan underwent several revisions and countless hours of conversation with the ultimate goal being to provide a framework for the future development of the institution.
